Despite the hiatus…

I’m always available for questions. (email to partouf at gmail)

I feel so sad everytime I see a search coming by with questions or keywords that I haven’t really answered on this blog…

But of course there’s a wealth of information out there, certainly for (and by) Druids. The links on the side should point you to the bloggers out there, check Resto4Life for her active list of bloggers here.

I certainly had much fun listening to a recent “Epic Dolls podcast” featuring Phaelia from Resto4life over here. All the basic must-knows around the Druid class can be audibly heard in american accents in just 60 minutes – without you having to read! zomg!

For other stuff, read read read. And don’t be afraid to ask, you can mail all the smart bloggers as well, just go over to their site.

Even if non-druid specific.

writing monkeys

A few weeks ago, I came across a forumpost from the GM of the guild I’m in, announcing a competition to write a war-of-the-worlds-esque-radio-adaptation-kind-of-story that she’d arrange to be read and musicalized. I thought it to be a wonderful thing, as I have greatly enjoyed writing in the past, and surely I could think of something to write. But alas, I had no inspiration until the first pieces of other guildies poured into the forums, and then I finally knew where to start. So I wrote a story of about 7x A4-pages in a few days, and I was very happy about the result, eventhough I hadn’t written something like that for ages. It has its quirks, too much dialog, too little details, too little background, and you need to read it with knowledge of the characters (eventhough the representation isn’t acurate) – so I won’t bother to post it here.

However, it did inspire me to build upon old habits, and I started reading technical websites and blogs again to re-create some of the lost braincells. And I’ve lost a lot of those before I decided to quit drinking alchoholic fluids 2 weeks ago.

On the WoW side of this whole new writing inspiration, I can’t really come up with much too say. I haven’t seen 2.4content yet, and I’m likely to stick to my hiatus for a few more months. So all I can think of is pointing at the bloggers who I think make sense and make the world of warcraft a little more exciting even for someone who isn’t actually there to experience it.

Maybe I’ll do that, but meanwhile, I was thinking about a more tech-oriented-blog, which is more in line of what I’m currently busy with. The main problem about that area is that I’m not too sure of what I can, and what I cannot say, due to various reasons – but; instead of waiting around thinking, I’m just going to give it a go and see where it takes me.

For the WoW people around here, a guildy posted a link to a nice gear-oriented website – however, I now realize that everyone already knows about it around on the bloggosphere: http://be.imba.hu/

empty blog soon to be filled: http://twigleaf.wordpress.com/

ManaWarning

I haven’t talked about this subject yet on my blog, but a while ago I made an addon called ManaWarning. I haven’t posted it on any of the addon websites, just on my guild’s forum.

The problem however lies in my inability to work on the addon and make sure it will work in 2.4 and beyond since I’m on WoW-Hiatus. So, I’m not adding any features at the moment, but if anyone wants to pick this project up and make it super awesome – I will be very happy to pretend I was the one that… ehh… I mean… well you know what I mean!

So, here…

ManaWarning
ManaWarning is an addon that gives a big flashy warning every now and then when you reach a certain level of Mana during combat. A similar warning is given when you reach a certain level of Health. It also gives a warning in either party or raid chat whenever you’re going OOM (default 10% of mana pool).

It is intended for use with level 70 characters, but it works alright from 60-70 as well. The threshold to give a warning can be modified, but it’s default is that of a full-restore by a Super Mana Potion (3000Mana).

For both Mana and OOM messages, high-level potions, objects and abilities are checked for Cooldown, and a given estimate in seconds is given for when which pot/ability is (again) available.

There is a configuration screen available to pretty much alter everything by entering the slash-command ‘/manawarning’.

You need to have Deadly Boss Mods for the addon to work.

Version 0.5 – available HERE.

Under the cut is the list of supported potions and abilities for the ones who are interested. If you add, modify or want to yell at me for the heck of it, reply ahead. Have fun!

I just want to add, that I’m not really enchanted by the blue flashy warning DBM shows, I hardly ever see it while healing, so if anyone has a suggestion how to make the warning more visible, don’t hesitate to comment.

Druids in Karazhan

While still lacking ideas of what to post about – when there’s already so much information out there about gear, talents, tactics, the hard facts and math essays with enough numbers to make your head spin – I’ve decided to just post again something I’ve posted on our guild forum.

Before anyone considers reading this, I do have to note that these things just indicate how I and the guild handles things, and does not at all mean your guild will hold them as true. You might call it stupid, noobish or insane, and if so: so be it, in several ways we are.

Especially the loot rules are just not something to abide to, they’re just my opinion and how we do things.

Now to hope the text conversion from BB to WordPress doesn’t take hours again…
